Everything is bigger in Texas

My fun adventure to Fredicksburg, TX was filled with sightseeing, texture collecting and a lot of open roads with 80mph limits. I was there to capture our friends Matt and Fay's wedding, with a break in the rain they were set to have an awesome day.

My morning started out with scouting the venu, Torre di Pietra, being from out of town my only idea of this place was what I saw on their website. I arrived in the morning to the vineyard. I walked the grounds and strayed grabbing some shots of locations that looked nice.

At this point I had to imagine what the light would be like later that night. I was fortunate it was a cloudy day but I was nervous it would get to dark.

By the time the wedding started it the clouds thinned out and the sun started to creep through. Then I got nervous it would be to bright and I had to mentally pivot my thinking to work with the new conditions. All in all I think the shoot went well. The bride only stepping in one fire ant hill and I only lost my back up camera for five minutes. The rest of the time it was smooth sailing. Here are a couple shots I managed to edit on the car ride to Austin.

For being my first wedding I didn't want to overshoot I ended up with 1,200 shots and I think that was pushing it. I thought it was a good experience and have no aspirations of becoming a wedding photographer but totally have a great respect for what they do and how they manage the shoot. There is a lot that goes into planning and working with a lot of different people and factors. The process is a beast and if you're up for the challenge and love the fast paced atmosphere then wedding photography might be up your alley.
